Types of Massage

At Azurite Wellness, I use nut free and vegan Songbird Massage Waxes. Every massage is tailored to suit your needs, and if you are not sure what type of massage you should get, I am happy to explain the different treatments, and help you to work out what you need.

Deep Tissue Massage

The perfect massage for any people who have muscle tension or pain, or those who do a lot of sports. Deep Tissue Massages use a variety of techniques to reach the deeper layers of muscles, and help to relieve aches and pain.

Dry Cupping

Cupping therapy uses negative pressure (away from the body) by suctioning the soft tissue, rather than traditional massage techniques which uses positive pressure (into the body). Dry cupping increases blood flow to the area, and stretches the fascia and muscles. Cupping can reach as deep as 4 inches into the tissue, but is not at all painful, so it’s a great way to relieve muscular tension. (Please note – while the treatment is not painful like deep tissue, it can be slightly uncomfortable, with a pulling sensation.)

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are nodules found within a tight band of muscles, which can lead to pain, discomfort and a reduced range of motion in nearby joints. Trigger points can be caused by stress, injury or repetitive use. Relieving trigger points is incredibly beneficial. I use Trigger Point techniques as a part of deep tissue treatments.

Oncology Massage

This is a massage for clients who currently have cancer, or who have recently gone into remission. An oncology massage can help to relieve symptoms of cancer treatments, as well as aid relaxation, improve sleep and to help increase comfort.

Indian Head Massage

A seated head massage using specific techniques to help ease tension in the shoulders, neck, head and face. Indian Head Massage utilises a range of techniques, including both lighter and deeper pressures, to ease aches and pains.

Hot Stone Therapy

An incredibly indulgent treatment, using heated volcanic basalt to warm the muscles and help to reduce pain in the body, while also helping you to relax. The heat from the stones is incredibly soothing.

Cold Stone Cryotherapy

A refreshing treatment, that uses frozen marble stones which can relieve inflammation and ease pain associated with swelling. This is a refreshing treatment to help with aches and pains.

Swedish Massage

A gentle relaxing massage, using long strokes and manipulation techniques with light to medium pressures. Swedish massages are great for anyone who just wants to feel completely relaxed, or if you are quite sensitive to pain, then this is great way to start having massages.

Pregnancy & Post Natal Massage

Massage is great for relieving the tension and muscle pain associated with pregnancy. A pregnancy massage can help to boost your mood and ease your pain, while also giving you some time to yourself. Post Natal massages are also great for helping you to unwind from the birth and cope with the emotional side of bringing a new life into the world.
